Success for Arcadia Junior Polocrosse Riders at NSW Pony Club Champs 2013

Arcadia Pony Club riders Macy Reen, Molly Breatnach and Grace Reen achieved a third placing in the junior division in the NSW Pony Club Polo Crosse Championships held at Camden.

“We are very proud of the girls”, said Leanne Davies, Senior Instructor, “as this is the first team we have fielded in Polocrosse from Arcadia in many years”.  Polocrosse was re-introduced as a discipline in late 2011 after an absence of almost a decade at Arcadia Pony Club.  We had to purchase new equipment and find a coach to get up to standard very quickly.  The girls practiced very hard coming together each week so they could play cohesively as part of the Zone 23 team at State Championships.  They continued to improve every practice session”.  To play nine (9) games at the State Championships to finish 3rd overall is a testament to their hard work and commitment.

We are very fortunate to have such fantastic individuals from the community such as Terry Mullins who volunteered to come and coach some of our Arcadia riders in technique.  This enabled the Arcadia riders to do well at Zone Polocrosse before being selected to compete at State.  “To have people such as Terry volunteering their time to help the children be the best they can demonstrates what a great community we have in Galston/Arcadia” says Tony Fox, President of Arcadia Pony Club.
